Robin Keston wins GUKPT London

Monday, 24 September 2012

315 players were on hand at the Vic over the weekend for the Main Event of the London leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT). After three days of action it was tournament veteran Robin Keston who was celebrating.

Keston pocketed a first prize of £84,310 after outlasting a final table that included Simon Deadman, Matthew Davenport and Ramsey Ajram. After Nathan Lee was eliminated in third is it was left to Daniel Rudd and Keston to battle it out for the title.

Railbirds hoping for an early night were left disappointed as heads up play proved cagey with some skilled small ball poker on view. It took the best part of three hours for Keston to seal the deal, scooping the lot when his pocket jacks held on against Rudd's A2.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1st Robin Keston £84,310
2nd Daniel Rudd £55,910
3rd Nathan Lee £37,010
4th Ramsey Ajram £22,050
5th Matthew Davenport £16,700
6th Andrew Seden £13,540
7th Simon Deadman £10,400
8th Huseyin Houssein £7,880
9th Elliot Panyi £5,980

A hat tip too to Bluff Europe columnist Jeff Kimber who pocketed £6,690 after taking the £300 side event. Another notable winner at the Vic was Sky Poker pundit Carlo Citrone who took the £500 side event for over £8,000. Unibet Open London winner Pratik Ghatge continued his red hot streak by winning the £200 six-max for £2,720.

The next tour stop is GUKPT Luton which starts on 14 October 2012 with the three-day, £1,000+£70 Main Event starting on Friday 19 October. Qualify online at Blue Square Poker.
