Robbie Fisher-O’Brien wins Sky Poker Tour Grand Final

Wednesday, 17 June 2009

The usual assortment of online rookies and hardy veterans, not forgetting the odd Sky Poker celeb, gathered at Dawn Till Dusk in Nottingham over the weekend for the final leg of the Sky Poker UK Tour.

The event attracted a field of 280 runners with a prize pool of £56,000 up for grabs. Robbie Fisher-O’Brien eventually won the title and picked up a cheque for £17,322.

The big hand on the final table saw Fisher-O’Brien, holding pocket Queens, bust out Pete Winter’s AQ, giving him a massive chip lead. He sealed the deal on the next hand. Alex Mcwhinnie pushed with pocket threes and Fisher-O’Brien called instantly with A8. The turn brought an Ace to confirm the win.

The £220 buy in event was the culmination of what has proved to be a very successful Sky Tour, which has had stops in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Swansea.
