Robbers Target Charity Poker Game

Monday, 24 December 2012

Christmas is supposed to be the season of giving but a group of armed raiders in America did just the opposite at an event that was raising funds for the Lions Club.

The mask-wearing robbers, one of whom was carrying a handgun stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the White Cloud Lions Club in the early hours of Friday morning. The club was hosting a special poker tournament in which the proceeds were to be given to charity.

Local police managed to apprehend one of the suspects soon after the crime was committed and arrested a second man after receiving a tip off from the public.

The pair are currently in custody with formal charges pending.
