Riot Breaks Out in NY Casino

Monday, 6 April 2015

It's often a bad beat at the poker table that causes tempers to flare inside a casino, but last Friday the combination of alcohol and long queues caused a riot in New York.

Following the opening of a Fat Tuesday inside Resorts World Casino, Queens, a mass brawl broke out and left dozens of people needing medical attention and three people being arrested.

The crazy scene looked like something out of a Hollywood movie and was after a crowd of people flocked to the casino to grab some cheap daiquiris on the opening night for the new bar. Unfortunately, after the lines swelled to unmanageable proportions, tempers began to flare and a small group of males began fighting.

The incident quickly escalated and within minutes a mass brawl had broken out. As well as CCTV video of the casino fight, a number of revellers were able to record the action via their phones. Within minutes the videos had gone viral and police were able to apprehend three men involved in the initial argument.

Fortunately, despite the carnage, no one was seriously injured and the casino's security team has stated that it will be improving its operation to ensure such incidents don't happen again.

"We are reviewing all aspects of this unfortunate event and are fully committed to taking steps to ensure similar acts do not take place ever again," read the official statement.
