Record Pots, Monster Games… Another Day at Full Tilt Poker

Record Pots, Monster Games… Another Day at Full Tilt Poker
Friday, 5 September 2008

We all know online poker is getting huge, but this is starting to hurt just reading about it. Players such as Phil Ivey, Cole South and Brian Townsend are often found slogging away at the “nosebleed” stakes of No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha. It’s not uncommon to see several famous names gathered at a $200/$400 No Limit table with $50,000 stacks.

Full Tilt Poker took this to a new extreme recently when a $500/$1,000 No Limit table with a massive $200,000 buy-in was created. High stakes pro Tom “durrr” Dwan and WSOP bracelet winner Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond were among the first at the table.

Tom Dwan was the game’s big winner, at one point increasing his stack to $724k after flopping a set of aces against relentless aggression from his opponent. Several pots bordered on the half-million mark. It will only be a matter of time before we see our first $500,000 pot.
