Record Attendance for PokerStars Opening in Macau

PokerStars' new LIVE room in Macau opened for business on Friday with its first official tournament, the Macau Cup.

The City of Dreams Casino’s new PokerStars LIVE room welcomed 334 players over the weekend for the Macau Cup’s opening event; while a further 310 players joined the festival’s second event.

For Pipi Huang the first event will always be a memorable one as he was able to make his way past the bumper field and claim the $16,900 first place prize.

However, for PokerStars and the City of Dreams, the tournament will also be memorable as it now holds the record for the largest ever single day side event held in Asia.

So far the grand opening has been more positive than PokerStars could have hoped for and with the $1,500 Red Dragon Main Event scheduled to start on Wednesday there’s hope even more players will visit the venue.

Indeed, commenting on the Main Event’s potential, PokerStars Senior Events Manager, Robin Lim, said: “We're ecstatic about our start, but no doubt the record we want to break is 635 unique players for the Red Dragon.”
