Former World Champion Greg Raymer has been arrested after allegedly soliciting a prostitute. According to NBC News, the 2004 Main Event winner was one of six men who responded to an advertisement posted by undercover police on a prostitution website.

The 48-year-old Raymer was arrested at a hotel in Wake Forest, North Carolina and is set to appear in court on Thursday 18 April on “Solicit for Prostitution” and “Solicit Crime Against Nature” misdemeanor charges. Bail was set at $1,000.

“The locations prostitutes choose for this type of criminal activity vary and seldom remain the same for more than a couple of days at a time which makes enforcement difficult,” said local Police Chief Jeff Leonard. “In this instance, we conducted the operation at a local hotel with its full cooperation. We are not aware of this type of criminal activity ever occurring at the hotel. Our officers selected the hotel for the undercover operation at random.”

After a quiet few years on the live circuit, Raymer enjoyed a great run of form on the Heartland Poker Tour in 2012, winning no fewer than four tour titles for over $360,000.
