Rami ‘arabiankinight’ Boukai wins WSOP Event #10

Monday, 8 June 2009

Saudi born American Rami Boukai outlasted a field of 453-runners to claim the $2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha event and with it prize money of $244,862. The 26-year-old battled his way through a final table lasting nine and a half hours before finally seeing off Najib Bennani to seal his first bracelet win.

“I just wanted to win,”said Boukai, “I won most of the hands heads-up but I was running really well, I was hitting some rivers. He was actually dodging, folding on the river a lot when I had a hand.”

It was a case of what might have been for the strong British contingent as Ben Grundy, John Kabbaj and Paul Parker all reached the final table. Grundy came closest to pocketing the bracelet, unluckily busting out to eventually runner up Bennani in an agonising third place.

The final positions and payouts were as follows:

1. Rami Boukai - $244,862
2. Najib Bennani - $151,335
3. Ben Grundy - $99,574
4. Cornel Cimpan - $69,546
5. Daniel Makowsky - $51,313
6. Paul Parker - $39,904
7. Pawel Andrzejewski - $32,653
8. John Kabbaj - $28,006
9. Sigi Stockinger - $25,151
