Ramana Epparla leads WSOP-C Chester Main Event final table

Tuesday, 10 May 2011

After two days the World Series of Poker Circuit event at Harrah’s Chester has reached a final table with Ramana Epparla leading the chip counts by a long shot – his 1.95m stack at 8,000/16,000 gives him three times the stack of second place Ed Cotter and over a third of the chips on the table.

He skyrocketed up the chip counts with a huge pot against Michael DePasquale who had 3-bet from the blinds and got a call from Epparla. The J-9-8 flop was a scary one and Epparla’s shove must have given DePasquale pause for thought with his two kings. Nevertheless, he called and was delighted to be up against 6-5o.

Not so thrilling was the seven on the river that completed Epparla’s straight draw and shot Epparla to over a million in chips. He is still the only player to have crossed the seven-figure milestone.

The first prize is $94,901 with each player at the final taking home at least $8,685. The chip counts shape up as follows and also prove our theory that Nguyen is the “Nguyenningest” name in poker:

1.Ramana Epparla 1,950,000
2.Ed Cotter 686,000
3.Kenny Nguyen 622,000
4.Robert Scott 467,000
5.Huy Nguyen 429,000
6.Ari Engel 411,000
7.Ryan Waddell 321,000
8.Robert Hwang 274,000
9.Sean Knitter 226,000
