Lisa Tenner was voted 'Event Pro of the Year' by her peers in the event marketing and production business at the EventPro Forum in Las Vegas. Founder of Tenner & Associates, Lisa’s achievements last year include Celebrity Pro-Am tournaments, the PartyPoker Million, and the Elle (Magazine) Queen of Hearts team. This group of female players competed at the 2006 WSOP.
It is not surprising that Tenner addressed the profile of women players: the fastest growing demographic in the gaming industry. However, Crystal Osgood-Gray, founder and President of the Ladies Poker Association and winner of the 2006 Los Angeles Poker Classic ladies event was surprised by the lack of recognition her first place received.
“For women to get noticed, a point system is needed that can put women on the same par as men,” explained Osgood-Gray.
Women are usually only 6% of mixed event fields, and buy-ins for women’s events are often too low for official rankings. Osgood-Gray found that many women players would welcome the opportunity to play in higher-priced ladies events.
The Ladies Poker Association is giving away a free seat to the first Ladies Professional Poker Tour event at the Bicycle Casino.
Crystal Osgood-Gray and Lisa Tenner should team up.
