Pregame.com, a betting website, will have a presence at the 2006 WSOP when their own director of client relations, Johnny Detroit, takes to the tables.
Detroit played in a satellite tournament at poker site Bodog.net, and won a free spot in the prestigious $10,000 buy-in Texas Hold’em Main Event of the WSOP where he’ll face some of the poker circuit’s biggest names.
'I’m more excited about this than when I tied for the NFL Super Contest at the Las Vegas Hilton and won six figures,” said Detroit. “There’s nowhere on earth with more action than the World Series of Poker.'
Detroit has been playing poker for the past seven years, running games in his own house and honing his craft online. If he is successful at this year’s tournament, he could win up to $10 million dollars in prize money, along with a prestigious gold WSOP bracelet.
Detroit thinks the odds could be stacked in his favour. “[They’re] as good as Moneymaker’s were,” he said, referring to amateur Chris Moneymaker’s surprise win in 2004’s Main Event Championship.
Detroit will be updating Pregame members on his WSOP experience via his weekly newsletter, “Johnny Detroit’s Weekly Rant.”
