Prahlad Friedman wins WPT Legends Of Poker

Friday, 28 August 2009

November Nine finalist Kevin Schaffel was the big story going into the final day of the WPT Legends Of Poker. The WSOP Main Event finalist proved that his fine form at The Rio was no fluke by finishing runner up for a cash of $471,670.

Local pro Prahlad Friedman beat Schaffel heads-up to pick up the first prize of $1,009,000. The final hand saw Schaffel holding KJ open on the button. Friedman re-raised with AQ, Schaffel four-bet and Friedman called. The board of 10-3-2-4-9 helped neither player, leaving Friedman with ace high, a million dollar payday and his first WPT title.

The 30-year-old, who won a WSOP bracelet in 2003, is probably best known for his Poker Is Fun rap which can be seen here on YouTube.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1: Prahlad Friedman $1,009,000
2: Kevin Schaffel $471,670
3: Todd Terry $231,300
4: Toto Leonidas $144,600
5: Sam Stein $116,225
6: Mike Krescanko $89,220
