Ponga80 bounces his way to a Sunday Million win at PokerStars.

Monday, 15 August 2011

The PokerStars Sunday Million continued last night, with 6,525 players pushing the prize pool over $1.3m and setting up a first prize of nearly $200,000 for one of the 990 players getting paid. With a little less than ten hours played, the final table was set with eventual winner Ponga80 starting second in chips but with position on the chip leader.

It took only two hands for the shortest stack to bust and, less than a single orbit later, a three-way all-in developed, with kmichael14’s Q-Q holding up versus 5-5 and A-K, eliminating two players and catapulting him into the chip lead. Before you knew it, we were four-handed with kmichael14 and Dynastyzz holding most of the chips.
However, that all changed when Ponga80 first doubled through Dynastyzz, who had just eliminated our fourth-place finisher, and then eliminated him holding A-8 to A-J and turning a pair of eights to knock him out. This left us heads-up with Ponga80 only slightly behind kmichael14 in the chips with 28.5m to 36.7m. A deal was briefly discussed and dismissed before heads-up began.
Ponga80 began wielding the “all in” button like a club and quickly took the chip lead by taking blinds and antes. Finally, he got a call –  kmichael14 had woken up with 9-9 and put all his chips in; he was a coinflip against Ponga80’s Qh-Jh. A jack on the flop was pretty much the end of it and neither of the other two nines showed up to save kmichael14.
The full final table payouts were as follows:
1.Ponga80 $198,490.50
2.kmichael14 $146,812.50
3.dynastyzz $104,400
4.Sircall $71,775
5.ABARZA $54,810
6.Microove $41,760
7.cynicalfish $28,710
8.syvers007 $15,660
9.garfield311 $10,113.75
