One of the world’s largest poker websites has teamed up with universities across the UK to offer the first ever nationwide Student Poker Tour.
The new tour aims to find the nation’s top Texas Hold ‘Em university player as the country's biggest universities will play host to PokerRoom.com.
The tour began in Liverpool on 20 February and will cover Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham and London, before terminating in Bristol on March 3.
After competing online against fellow university members, each university will eventually put forward one student, who join a group of 10 players battling it out on March 11 to become the inaugural British Universities Poker Champion and win themselves a brand new £15,000 sports car.
PokerRoom.com's Chief Executive, Patrick Selin said, 'With the launch of the Student Poker Tour, we are taking the exciting world of poker directly to a growing audience and developing a relationship with a previously untapped market. We aim to show students that anybody can be a great Texas Hold 'Em player given the tools and the know-how from PokerRoom.com.'
