The company behind the PokerPro electronic poker table, PokerTek, has announced that it will soon be distributing a ‘heads-up’ version of the table.
The machine, Heads-Up Challenge World Series of Poker Edition, is to be branded with official WSOP logos after a licensing agreement was signed with Harrah’s earlier this year and should be available next month.
PokerTek said that each game would cost two dollars per player and that the machine would accept both dollars and eventually credit cards. It is to use a tracking ball instead of a touch screen and has been designed to have an arcade feel. In addition, it will also eventually be attached to a network to track player statistics and standings.
A distribution network to get machines in bars around the US is already in place through a domestic distribution agreement signed last month with nine companies specialising in distributing amusement games and those interested in purchasing one of the games must contact one of these distribution companies.
“This product extends our reach into a large market outside the gaming space, leverages our intellectual property and maintains focus within our area of expertise, which is poker,” said James Crawford, President of PokerTek.
“The WSOP brand is a powerful addition to an already amazing product and we look forward to introducing this new game to players in bars.”
PokerTek said that a home version of the machine is in the works with its price still to be determined.
