PokerStars to host EPT London charity event

Thursday, 23 September 2010

Poker players at next week's EPT London will be able to take part in some top quality tournament action and help a very worthy thanks to PokerStars next month.

The online giant will be hosting a special two-day live event at London's Hilton Metropole Hotel from 2nd to 4th October with a guaranteed prize pool of £100,000. The re-entry event has a £100+10+10 buy-in with £10 of every entry going to Cancer Research UK. Online registration is available now in the PokerStars lobby under ‘Events’ > ‘EPT’ > ‘Qualifiers’ > ‘EPT7-London: Event 25’.

PokerStars has agreed to match both the £10 charity contribution AND all additional player donations meaning the total charitable contribution could be even higher. Players wishing to make a donation can transfer funds from their account to the ‘cancerUK’ account on the PokerStars client.

The EPT London special is the latest in a series of charity tournaments hosted by PokerStars. The likes of Guns N Roses guitarist Slash and rapper Nelly helped raise $150,000 for AIDS charity amfAR at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure with Zara Phillips and Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina on hand at the EPT Grand Final event where €160,000 was raised for Ante Up For Africa charities.

More big name poker players and celebrities are expected to play in the latest event which sounds like one not to be missed.
