PokerStars teams up with Irish Poker Championship

The five-day festival takes place at Galway’s Radisson Hotel from 11th to 14th December, with the showpiece tournament a €2,000 buy-in main event. The prize pool is estimated to reach €750,000 with the winner taking home €250,000 plus a seat for next year’s EPT London. There will also be three side events with buy-ins of €550, €350 and €250.

Commenting on the new union Kirsty Thompson of Poker Stars said, "The Irish Poker Championship has become one of the biggest events on the Irish Poker Calendar and we are delighted to be sponsoring it. Poker players appreciate good hospitality and a good party atmosphere and there is no better city than Galway to provide it.”


A host of top names have already confirmed their attendance including home favourites Andy Black, Donnacha O’Dea, Padraig Parkinson and Marty Smith.


Online qualification begins exclusively on Pokerstars.com on 15th October 2009. PokerStars players can also buy seats in advance online through their own player account.
