PokerStars looking at California

PokerStars looking at California

Just as Joe Barton was announcing his latest effort to legalise online poker across the United States, PokerStars has been busy lining up another state as an ally.

According to onlinepokerreport.com, PokerStars is following up its recent move into New Jersey by lobbying officials in California.

Although somewhat speculative at this point, the piece cites an article by GamblingCompliance that suggests former US politician Dick Gephardt has been spotted in the California’s state capital, Sacramento, talking to local representatives.

On top of this, it's believed PokerStars has already cut a tentative deal with a Californian casino in the form of the Hawaiian Gardens.

If the speculation from onlinepokerreport.com is true then it could be a further notch in PokerStars’ cap just ahead of another political effort to legalise online poker at a federal level in the United States.
