PokerStars launches Australia/New Zealand poker tour

Friday, 23 January 2009

Having added the Russian Poker Tour to their schedule, PokerStars are now moving to Oz and New Zealand for the ANZPT. Clearly envious of Full Tilt and the Aussie Millions, the world’s largest poker site felt they were missing out on all the fun.

Taking Australian poker back to its humble beginnings, the tour will kick off at Adelaide’s SKY CITY Casino – widely regarded as the ‘Home of Australian Poker,’ when the casino first introduced Texas Hold ’em to the country’s shores in 1987.

Qualifiers on PokerStars have already begun – a $4,500 package gets you 5 nights of accommodation at the Hyatt Hotel, travel expenses and the $3,000 buy-in to the tournament.

Some of the sport’s finest including PokerStars.net Team Australia members Grant Levy, Eric Assadourian, Celina Lin, Tony Hachem and Emad Tahtouh will grace the tables for the PokerStars.net ANZPT in up to six locations.
