One of the world's largest online poker sites, Isle of Man-based PokerStars.com, has announced that it is to sponsor the Asia Pacific Poker Tour, which starts with a $2,500 buy-in tournament in Manila, Philippines, from August 24 to 26.

One of the world's largest online poker sites, Isle of Man-based PokerStars.com, has announced that it is to sponsor the Asia Pacific Poker Tour, which starts with a $2,500 buy-in tournament in Manila, Philippines, from August 24 to 26.
The Tour will then travel to Seoul, South Korea, with another $2,500 tournament from September 28 to 30 before going on to Sydney, Australia, where buy-ins will be raised to $5,000 from December 13 to 16.
PokerStars.com stated that further dates and locations would be announced once planning has been finalised and, whenever possible, events would be televised.
The tournaments are to be set in some of the world's most lavish casino locations with the Manila event in the Hyatt Hotel and the Seoul tournament inside the Sheraton Walkerhill. The Sydney leg of the tour is to take place at Star City Casino.
From yesterday, PokerStars.com has been running daily qualifying tournaments with buy-ins of $22 that can lead to tickets to the Philippines event.
