PokerStars announces Russian Poker Tour

Friday, 5 December 2008

PokerStars seem to be gaining a global monopoly on Poker Tours one step at a time, and this one is a biggun. The new PokerStars-sponsored Russian Poker Tour comes after two Russian players have achieved acclaim within the poker community and PokerStars pro status.

Alex Kravchenko won a WSOP bracelet last year to become the first Russian citizen to do so, and new talent Ivan Demidov came agonisingly close to winning the WSOPE and WSOP Main Events, finishing 3rd and 2nd respectively for a total sum of around $6,500,000 at the exchange rate of the time.

Both Russian stars are expected to be on hand for the RPT stops, highlighting a strong international field. PokerStars are already running satellites to RPT St. Petersburg from as low as $2.22 or 111FPPs.
