PokerStars adjust SCOOP schedule for lack of US players

Tuesday, 26 April 2011

One of the greatest tournament series – live or online – in the world is due to kick off on May 8 when the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker runs 114 events with 38 each of high, medium and low buy-ins. Originally the series guaranteed $45m in total prize money but that was pre-Black Friday.

Now PokerStars have been forced to make some adjustments to the SCOOP schedule to compensate for the lack of US players. The series will now guarantee a still-hefty $25m in prize money across the 38 sets of three events. The schedule has also been adjusted by three hours to make it more EU-friendly, meaning we don’t have to wait up until 1am in some cases to play a tournament.

The first event is a 6-max NL affair with buy-ins of $22, $216 and $2,100 with a guaranteed prize pool of $200k, $500k and $500k for each event. The series culminates in a Main Event with buy-ins of $109, $1,050 and $10,300 with a guaranteed prize pool of $750k, $1.5m and $2.5m.

Satellites are running now as well as the Daily Bigs; three daily $11, $22, $55 and $109 buy-in tournaments awarding SCOOP tickets just for playing in three tournaments and guaranteeing $50,000 each. Daily. We may not have the American fish but it’s still a damn good time to play at PokerStars.
