PokerStars WCOOP in Full Swing

Monday, 8 September 2014

The latest incarnation of PokerStars' WCOOP got underway yesterday and, by the time the registration desks had closed in the three opening events, more than 25,000 players had anted up in search $3 million in guaranteed prizes.

As expected the most populated event was the special WCOOP Sunday Million which has an increased prizepool of $1.5 million. In total, 11,634 joined the race for a WCOOP bracelet and a top prize worth $323,663.

Being a WCOOP edition, play has been stretched over two days and when the action was paused last night just 159 players were left fighting for a place in the finale.

Leading the way with 2,585,841 was Slovenia's 'XmasParty666', but when the action resumes he'll have his work cut-out to maintain that lead with the likes of Marc-Andrew 'FrenchDawg' Ladouceur, Chris Moneymaker and Grzgorz 'DaWarsaw' Mikielewicz all still in contention.

As well as the finale of the WCOOP Sunday Million, today's roster of events will see Omaha and Hold'em players have a chance to fight for more than $1 million in guaranteed cash.
