PokerStars Test Launches Duel

Friday, 12 February 2016

Online poker giant PokerStars has begun a limited beta test of its new Duel heads-up app for users of mobile devices.

Now available to download in Norway and based on the mechanics of no-limit hold‘em, Duel is a turn-based game that lets users challenge friends and others including members of Team PokerStars Pro to one-on-one matches from their mobile phone.

PokerStars stated that Duel, which is to be made available in free-play and real-money formats, is another step in its ongoing attempts to introduce poker to new audiences. It declared that the social gaming aspect of the app is expected to prove popular with those who may not have the time to sit and enjoy regular tournament games.

“I love being able to play it so easily,” said PokerStars ambassador Chris Moneymaker.

“It fits easily into my hectic life since I can pick it up and put it down anytime I want. It also manages to represent the depth of poker that I love.”

Available to users of Apple and Android-powered devices, Dual is expected to be rolled out in other parts of the world ‘in the coming months’.
