PokerStars SCOOP final day – Toby Lewis leads Main Event

PokerStars SCOOP final day – Toby Lewis leads Main Event

Monday, 23 May 2011

This time tomorrow, the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker will be over for another year. Once again, the guarantee of $25m was met big time with only one event ($25,500 Heads-Up NL) failing to meet the guarantee. The Main Event has begun with the final playing out tonight.

The $109, $1,050 and $10,300 all met their guarantees and then some. The Low event doubled the $750k guarantee with 16,782 players entering to create a first prize of more than $180,000; the Medium event saw 2,505 players beat the guarantee by over $1m with a first prize of $400,000 while in the High event there was another $1m boost to the prize pool with 380 players giving us a $735,000 top spot.

Currently 22 players remain in the High Main Event, all guaranteed at least $28,500 and returning at 6pm GMT to play down to just one. Notable names in the running include PokerStars Pro Joe Hachem in 14th place with the UK’s very own Toby “810ofclubs” Lewis leading the field with almost three times the average stack.

Pursuing Lewis up the leaderboard are Swedish high stakes regular el_klonkador, Finnish cash game specialist Lars Luzak, EPT Berlin winner Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilonofsky and at the bottom of the counts Matt “ADZ124” Marafioti.

Meanwhile the Medium buy-in event is down to just 16 players and the Low event still has 16 remaining, all guaranteed a nice $3,500 return on their $109 investment. Play resumes today at 6pm in these events as well as the Medium and High final 6-max NL events.
