PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero wins EPT High Roller

Tuesday, 5 October 2010

Fresh from three consecutive Latin America Poker Tour main event final tables (two wins, one ninth place) Team PokerStars Pro Jose “Nacho” Barbero has added £556,000 to his scoresheet by taking down the EPT £20,000 High Roller event.

He defeated a final table that included tough opposition in the form of fellow PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst; Andrew “good2cu” Robl and Finnish pro Jani Sointula who finished runner-up to Barbero after a drawn-out heads-up battle.

Barbero eventually won when Sointula called off his last few big blinds with K-4 and was behind the Argentine’s A-J. An ace-high flop pretty much ended it right there and a queen on the turn sealed the deal.

The £20,000 buy-in event drew the cream of the crop with 77 players competing and the final table receiving a payout. Barbero can add £556,000 to his already impressive list of tournament earnings; this now sends him well over the $1.5m milestone in live earnings.

The full payouts for the EPT High Roller event were as follows:

1st - Nacho Barbero, Argentina, £556,000
2nd - Jani Sointula, Finland, £335,000
3rd - Andrew Robl, USA, £198,000
4th - Vanessa Selbst, USA, £145,000
5th - Fabian Quoss, Germany £107,000
6th - Matt Marifioti, Canada, £76,500
7th - Will Molson, Canada £61,200
8th - Pierre Neuville, Belgium, £45,900
