PokerStars' New Jersey Move Blocked by Politics

PokerStars move into New Jersey will have to wait until 2015 according to a source close to Pokerfuse.

Although unnamed, the figure linked to the situation has said that a series of political hurdles are preventing the site from going live in the Garden State. Adding to this speculation, Senator Ray Lesniak also tweeted earlier this week that PokerStars will be timed out this year because they would "boost AC and hurt Adelson's attempt in Congress to shut down igaming."

When pressed further on the issue, Lesniak stated that it was a misstep by Governor Chris Christie that would give Adelson more time to destroy the industry.

Of course, all this is speculation at the moment, but it does seem that certain political forces are working to keep PokerStars out of the state. However, what also seems clear is that at some point soon, the world's largest poker operator will rejoin the US market.
