PokerStars NAPT Venetian Day 1 sees 872 entrants

PokerStars NAPT Venetian Day 1 sees 872 entrants

Monday, 22 February 2010

The much-anticipated PokerStars North American Poker Tour’s leg at the Venetian card room in Las Vegas delivered, with an 89-table cardroom nearly selling out with 827 entrants into the $5,000 event.

Justin Bonomo, Chau Giang, Hevad Khan, David Benyamine, Phil Hellmuth and Shaun Deeb – curiously not retired from poker tournaments, apparently – all hit the rail today and won’t be returning for Day 2, which played out last night well into this morning.

WSOP champions Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Joe Cada and Chris Moneymaker represented the PokerStars Pros well as all survived the day. In fact, WSOP 2003 winner Moneymaker was one of only three players to burst the 200k chip bubble.

Andy Seth and Mark Ketteringham also had that honour, with Moneymaker holding 207,300 as Day 2 began.

Join us tomorrow for updates on Days 2 and 3 of the PokerStars NAPT Venetian event.
