PokerStars EPT Vilamoura - Martin Jacobson leads last 24

Wednesday, 1 September 2010

It was an explosive day of poker in Portugal yesterday when the remaining 69 players of the PokerStars EPT Vilamoura whittled themselves down to just 24. Martin Jacobson is way out in front on 1,362,000 chips; he knocked out bubble boy Ayaz Sadrudin Manji before hand-for-hand play could even be announced to the room.

Jacobson was the nemesis of many rail-hitting players throughout the day but he seemed to have it in for the Brits. Paul Foltyn left the tournament courtesy of Jacobson before double WSOP bracelet-winner JP Kelly was eliminated after running his AQ into Jacobson's AK.

Despite this, the UK is still well represented in the field with three players from Blighty left out of the 24 remaining. Tournament beast Sam Trickett has a good stack of 712,000 heading into Day 5 while former Manchester United and England footballer Teddy Sheringham has built up just under 400,000.

Today the players will bluff and value bet their way to a final table of eight. The winner of the tournament will receive €467,835 and a seat at the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo Grand Final.
