PokerStars EPT Tallinn Day 1a completed

Thursday, 12 August 2010

The seventh season of the PokerStars European Poker Tour kicked off in Estonia yesterday with 181 players including Annette Obrestad and Vanessa Selbst ponying up the entry fee for the main event.

However, out of the 181 players, just 89 will return for Day 2 with the Day 1b survivors and Obrestad and Selbst are sadly in the 92 that haven't made it.

The overnight chip leader is Ali Tekintamgac of Germany, the only player to bag up more than 200,000 from his 30,000 starting stack as he accumulated 203,200 throughout the day.

Hot on his heels is, unsurprisingly, a Russian player, Matvey Linov. He bagged up 193,400 by dominating a table aggressively, a table including Brit WSOP bracelet-winner Praz Bansi.

The German and Russian soared ahead of the field but third in chips is Artem Litvinov on 134,500. Also still in the hunt for the final table are Team PokerStars Pros Luca Pagano, Arnaud Mattern, Ivan Demidov and Alex Kravchenko.

WSOP 2009 sensation Ville Wahlbeck is still alive with 68,000 in chips, which is sensational when you consider that he had just 5,000 remaining in his stack at the 400/800 level before the dinner break.

Day 1b is playing out today and both sets of surviving players return for Day 2 tomorrow.

If you want to play future EPT events then you can qualify at PokerStars.
