PokerStars EPT San Remo kicks off

PokerStars EPT San Remo kicks off

Wednesday, 27 April 2011

Last year the European Poker Tour event in San Remo, on the Franco-Italian border, was the largest EPT event ever with the beautiful Liv Boeree beating a record field of 1,240 to pick up a €1.25m first prize. The event has also in the past been won by Jason Mercier, her fellow PokerStars pro, back in 2008.

The Main Event begins today with Day 1a beginning mid-afternoon. Once again, San Remo expects a huge field with dozens of pros already confirming their attendance via Twitter including Lex Veldhuis and defending champion Boeree, last spotted Tweeting a picture of her sunbathing on the roof before the event. No, don’t go all rushing off – you can only see her feet. Honestly, you lot.

When Jason Mercier bested the field in 2008, he defeated 700 other players to win a first prize of €869,000. In 2009, it was Constant Rijkenberg who beat a hugely-expanded field of 1,178 to walk away with a €1.5m first prize.
