PokerStars EPT Monte Carlo Day 1b Report

Friday, 1 May 2009

The Monte Carlo Bay Resort Hotel played host to a stacked field in Day 1b of the EPT Monte Carlo Championship €10,000 Event. The difficult field included Joe Hachem, Peter Eastgate, Devilfish, Vicky Coren, Gavin Griffin and Phil Laak.

In total, 539 players registered and played out Day 1b which brings the total number of entrants to almost 1,000 as 935 stumped up €10,000 to play. This represents a huge increase of almost 100 players on the 2008 field.

Early eliminations included rap star Nelly (who got it in with top pair, no kicker on a three-flush board with no redraws – he may get all da b*tches but he’s a fish), Devilfish and Gavin Griffin. However, David Williams, Nenad Medic and Sandra Naujoks all emerged with big stacks at the end of the day.

The combined chip leaders from Day 1a and Day 1b are as follows:
Lee Nelson (New Zealand) -- 253,600
Amicha Barer (Canada) -- 207,800
Dan Dyke (USA) PokerStars player -- 179,700
