The PokerStars European Poker Tour continues its progression across Europe as William Thorson from Norway tops the leaderboard after the first of two day ones.
Overall 306 players entered Day 1a and 115 left with chipstacks intact to make it to Day 2 on Thursday. Thorson fought through a tough field that saw the eliminations of Barny Boatman, Rasmus Nielsen, Roberto Romanello, and Ivan Demidov. He grew his 10,000 starting stack to 84,500.The second Day 1 is predicted to have a star-studded line-up including Dario Minieri, Bertrand Grospellier, Marcel Luske, and 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Peter Eastgate. Last year in this event, Mike “Timex” McDonald took down the first-place prize after defeating 411 players – it is predicted that this year’s field will exceed that.
