PokerListings Founder Shot Dead in Sweden.

"We are very sad and shocked to confirm that Andreas Oscarsson, 36, founder of PokerListings.com, has tragically passed away while visiting his childhood home in Sweden," read an announcement on PokerListings.com, one of the world's oldest poker affiliate sites.

Whilst details/sources still remain uncertain, word is out that a 20 year old man by the name of Andreas Oscarsson was shot down last year in the exact same town in Sweden.

If this proves to be true then the Andreas Oscarsson that was killed last year may have been a case of mistaken identity. Not only this, but it would also imply there was a contract out on Oscarsson’s head.

Motive for the murder could be one of a number of different factors. PokerListings was one of the original poker affiliate sites and is worth millions. Oscarsson himself would therefore be a wealthy man.

It is also possible that Oscarsson made some enemies in Sweden before leaving to live in New York years ago. Indeed, Swedish Police have said that it is quite probable that something from his past had unfortunately caught up with him.

Either way, Oscarsson had removed himself from the day-to-day operations of PokerListings after the birth of his beloved son.

Family relatives as well as Oscarsson's two-year-old son were in the house where he was found dead on Tuesday afternoon. Thord Haraldsson, head of the police anti-crime unit in Trollhättan, told news agency TT. None of the man's family members are suspected of being involved in the murder however.

His son, who is said to have witnessed the murder, was unhurt in the incident and is currently with police investigators. Oscarsson's wife has reportedly left their New York home to fly out to Sweden to be with her son.

As of now there are no further details except that police are uncertain of the exact motive, but reports emanating from Sweden suggest 'concrete threats' were made towards Oscarsson, according to friends and colleagues in Stockholm and Gothenburg.
