PokerHound, a company with its sights set firmly on revolutionising poker software, has announced that version 3.0 of its software will be unveiled in a matter of weeks.
What apparently marks PokerHound out from its competitors is that the software “reads” the action by “scraping” text and graphics from the player’s computer screen. Accordingly, the software recalculates at each action to provide context specific information before the player responds to their opponent’s action.
Most importantly, PokerHound updates during the hand itself. “This difference means that PokerHound can observe the player’s action and bet size and then perform calculations relative to that action,” explains software developer John Brown.
“For example, if an opponent raises 75 per cent of the pot from mid-position at the flop, PokerHound will search the database for mid-size bets by that player and players of similar style betting on flop in mid-position and calculate the probable strength of his hand. It also will provide ‘what if’ information,” Brown added.
The new version of the software means that in tournament play, users can see what size bet is needed pre-flop to take down the blinds and antes, the probability of success in taking the pot down pre-flop by bet-size and position, and the probability of success by start card, position, and bet size.
For cash games, players can view the probable number of callers relative to bet size, the probability of success by start card, position, and bet size, as well as extensive analysis of their play.
