Poker trouble for baseball star

Friday, 5 August 2011

A high profile baseball player could be in trouble with the game's authorities after allegedly taking part in underground poker games.

New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, the current squeeze of Cameron Diaz, is reported to have been involved in games organised by Molly Bloom, the same person said to have arranged the game that Hollywood actor Toby Maguire was associated with.

An unnamed Major League Baseball source told ESPN, “We're talking to people involved in the investigation and we're taking this very seriously. Because he had been warned about this before, I would say a possible suspension would be very much in play."

Rodriguez was warned by authorities in 2005 about participating in illegal poker games.
