Poker pro David Saab arrested in cocaine sting

Poker pro David Saab arrested in cocaine sting

Wednesday, 26 January 2011

David Saab scored his first big poker win in 2007 at the same Aussie Millions that Gus Hansen won; taking down the $5,000 AUD Heads-Up event for $64,000. In 2008 he won the Asian Poker Tour Manila event for almost $300,000. In total he has over half a million in earnings.

Well, he’s better known to the Australian authorities as an alleged big time cocaine dealer. Saab and two friends are accused of attempting to import a staggering 21 kilograms of cocaine with a street value of over £800,000 into Australia. Saab and friends Francis Huges and Robert Reemus were arrested on Tuesday and are charged with “importing and attempting to possess a commercial quantity of cocaine”. They are in custody until May.

All we can say is that it gives a whole new meaning to a player going busto.
