Poker in the Park gets GamCare seal of approval

Friday, 17 July 2009

GamCare, the leading authority on responsible gaming has given its endorsement to next month’s Poker in the Park festival in Leicester Square. The festival, which takes place on 13th and 14th August, aims to educate as well as entertain players and GamCare will be on hand to offer information and advice on how to gamble responsibly.

The charity offers practical help and support and aims to improve the understanding of the social impact of gambling, promote a responsible approach to gambling and address the needs of those adversely affected by a gambling dependency.

Michael Caselli, the organisers of Poker in the Park, recognises the importance of responsible gambling and is delighted that GamCare is involved. “It is of pinnacle importance that Poker in the Park promotes poker as a safe and enjoyable activity for everyone who attends. Thus, for the third year in a row, we have invited GamCare to participate in this fantastic event. We want to make sure that every poker player knows about GamCare, and knows that they are an integral part of the poker fraternity”.

Andy McLellan, Chief Executive of Gamcare added “GamCare recognises that most gamblers play responsibly and enjoy the game. For anyone who finds that it’s no longer enjoyable and has difficulty sticking to their limits, we provide a range of support and strategies to help them get back in control. We are delighted to be involved with Poker in the Park again this year, and to have the opportunity of raising awareness amongst so many players at this high-profile event in the poker calendar”
