Poker and boxing at The International tonight

Saturday, 13 November 2010

The good people at The International are doing their best to help poker loving fight fans this weekend. The London venue will be showing the David Haye versus Audley Harrison fight on the big screen alongside its usual Saturday night tournaments.

The club is running a pair of events on Saturday starting with the £100 NLHE freezeout at 7pm. Stacks will start at 10,000 chips but players can also get a bonus of 2,000 chips for an extra fiver. The Behemoth tournament starts an hour later at 8pm with the £30 buy-in getting players a whopping 15,000 chips with a further 3,000 on offer for an extra £3.

And if all that wasn't enough a buffet will be served at 9pm. Free food, deep stacked poker and the big fight on the telly. Sounds like a great night.

Of course there are plenty of poker connections with the big fight itself. Audley Harrison has credited poker as saving his boxing career after being drawn on the same table Matchroom Poker's Eddie Hearn the World Series in Vegas. The former Olympic champion got his fight career back on track through the Prize Fighter series but hasn't given up on poker. Harrison is now sponsored by Full Tilt Poker and has had a number of cashes at the WSOP.
