The Second Annual Walters Cup Pro-Am Tournament will combine both Golf and Poker challenges. But poker and golf? Surely these are two ends of the spectrum? Obviously not: the highly successful event has a total of $30,000 in prize money, and attracted a large field from all over the world last year, with ages ranging from 30 to 65. Both games are often played for high stakes in Las Vegas by, ahem, wealthy retirees.
However, feedback from last year was very promising and Brennan Blednick, Senior Director of Sales for Walters Golf said that the company wanted to build on the popular pro-am tournaments.
“Our intention was to provide an event that the PGA Pro and their amateurs would find interesting and allow them to showcase their golfing skills on an even field against others from across the country. Obviously with the popularity of Texas Hold’em and being Las Vegas, the poker component added that little extra spice to the event.”
The entry fee for the five-day event is $1,995, but this includes accommodation at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino, meals, golfing and transport. Golfing locations will include the Royal Links Golf Club, Bali Hai Golf Club and Stallion Mountain Country Club.
