Thursday, 9 July 2009

The opening leg of PokerStars’ new Czech-Slovak Poker Tour took place at the Card Casino in Prague last week. In the end it was Lukas Horak who took the honours outlasting a field of 122 runners to claim the $18,000 first prize.

The CSPT now heads to Ostrava from 24th to 27th September with further stops in Brno from 29th October to 1st November and Bratislava from 10th to 13th December. All the tournaments have a buy-in of around $700 and carry a guaranteed minimum prize pool of approximately $65,000. Satellites and qualifiers for all the events on the tour are running on PokerStars.

The move into central Europe is the latest part of PokerStars’ global expansion. They’re recently started a Russian Tour to complement the Asian Pacific Poker Tour, Latin American Poker Tour, Italian Poker Tour, Australia New Zealand Poker Tour not to mention the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Central Europe looks set to become a real hotbed of poker after the WPT announced that it is hosting the €4,000 WPT Slovakia in Bratislava from 31st August to 5th September.
