Pro poker players are offering to ‘rent’ their services for the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) using a site called Rounder Auction, which bills itself as “the first website of its kind to link everyday folks to poker pros willing to potentially put millions of dollars into their hands.”
“Users of the site don't need to know anything about poker to take part,” said Rounder Auction director, Paula Morton.
“At RounderAuction.com professional poker players place themselves up for rent through auctions. You can rent a poker pro with a small portion of your entertainment budget and then grab some popcorn to watch him or her increase your loot.”
“Where else can you pay for entertainment and have a shot at getting money back? No one expects the usher at the movies to return your ticket and nachos money on the way out of the theatre, but that is exactly the expectation you can have when renting a poker pro,' added Morton.
The company provides free information about poker pros, available tournament and cash game deals, advice on how to evaluate a player, and a free-to-all sample sponsorship contract which can be used to clarify terms when renting a pro.
