Two top poker pros and good friends who both hail from Vietnam but have built their poker careers in the US have announced that they will return to Asia to take part in the Betfair Asian Poker Tour event.
John “The Razor” Phan has close to $3m in tournament winnings and has a history of outstanding results at tournaments including the World Poker Tour and at the World Series of Poker. His friend, Liz “The Pokerdiva” Lieu is a regular winner at high-stakes cash game tables in Las Vegas.
Both very much engaged in charity work, the duo will give 20 per cent of future tournament winnings to charity. If either player wins the Betfair Asian Poker Tour, this could mean up to $100,000 for charity.
“We are both really looking forward to the Betfair Asian Poker Tour in Singapore,” Phan and Lieu said. “It will be really interesting to follow poker’s growing popularity in Asia from close range. Asians are always good with games and that is one of the reasons why so many players of Asian origin have been so successful in the world of poker, especially in America.
The Betfair Asian Poker Tour begins on November 12 and continues until one player emerges victorious on November 17.
