The popularity of poker at the Holland Casino continues to increase, and the 16th Master Classics of Poker will be held there in just a couple of weeks. Entries for the event are already high, and the Amsterdam casino are expecting many more before the festival begins on 2nd November.
The tournament is one of the largest and best-known tournaments held in Europe. The series consists of seven events culminating in the €5,000 buy-in main event, and has attracted entrants from all around the world in the past.
Last year saw players from Holland take on all comers – Marcel Luske, Rob Hollink, Noah Boeken and Jorryt van Hoof playing host at the felt to visitors such as Simon Trumper, Mickey Finn, Eddy Scharf, Tom Nightingale, Alan Smurfitt, Roy Brindley and Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott.
Countries which have sent players to the event include the USA, France, UK, Russia, Austria, Germany, Slovakia as well as the Scandinavian nations sending wave after wave of talented young players.
A total of €3.3m was awarded in prize money last year, and this year should be just as successful – 2,080 entry tickets have been already been sold. Last year’s winner was Alex Jalili of Germany, who won €690,000.
