According to the writers at a new blog, poker players who tire of Texas Hold’em should consider playing a hand of a different variant of the game called Crazy Pineapple poker.
The game is not new but has traditionally been played in brick-and-mortar casinos more than it has online. In fact, the writers of the blog claim that currently only two sites actually carry the game and with this in mind, they set up the website (www.crazypineappleblog.blogspot.com) to try to promote it and offer strategy advice for new players.
The Crazy Pineapple variant is similar to Hold’em, except that players receive three cards instead of two. They then see a flop as usual but after the betting, players discard one card. Accordingly, they’re then left with a two card game and it continues as a game of Hold’em does.
“Getting three cards instead of two is great, as you get to play hands more often. You also get a lot more people in hands which means more action, so you can take down some massive pots,” explains the blog’s founder, Jeff DeHavis. “It's a great break from Hold’em as well and really strengthens your play.”
