Poker Party Proves Fatal

Tuesday, 2 September 2014

Thankfully on this side of the pond, robberies involving guns are extremely rare. Shootings seem to be more of a fact of life in the US though. A poker game in Alabama was the subject of the latest incident that saw two men shot.

According to Lee County Sheriff's Office, police arrived at the scene in Opelike to find 43-year-old Marcus Keith Byrom of Montezuma, Georgia, suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses said that Byrom and another individual at the poker party had walked outside the venue when a midsize black sedan approached them. Two unknown people got out of the car and shouted “Don't Move! Give it up!”. Shots were then fired.

Police reported that one of the men suspected of being in the black car was found a short distance with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was later identified as Jertheaus Antez Williams, AKA, “Pookie Williams”.

Police are continuing with their enquiries.
