Poker Olympics at the Western Club

Poker Olympics at the Western Club

Thursday, 5 July 2012

Poker at the Olympics? Well not quite. London’s Western Club is hosting it’s own poker-inspired version of the Olympics in a seven-day festival that runs from 16th to 22nd July.

The Poker Olympics will feature a series of tournaments including triple jump, pentathlon (HORSE), heavyweight final (bounty), triathlon (round of each PLHE, PLO and PLO Hi Lo), sprint final (turbo rebuy) with the showpiece event the £300 Olympiad Main Event.

Just like the Olympics, players will be able to qualify for the major events in heats (ie satellites) in the run up to the series with an I-stakes £5/£10 marathon scheduled for cash players.

The complete schedule can be found here.

The guarantee was smashed at the Western Club’s American Independence Day special last night. Mark Stanton was the eventual winner, taking home £1,486 and a seat in the club’s £100k Guaranteed event later this year. Not bad for a buy in of less that 40 quid.
