To say that poker’s been getting a bit of press over the past couple of years is about as much of an understatement as saying Brad and Angelina enjoy some casual coverage from the tabloids.

To say that poker’s been getting a bit of press over the past couple of years is about as much of an understatement as saying Brad and Angelina enjoy some casual coverage from the tabloids. It’s no surprise then that poker, with its wall-to-wall TV channels and constant online presence, now has its own cult following on the radio.
California Poker Radio, broadcast from San Diego every Saturday, can now be picked up as a podcast via iTunes, for anyone who has the need to get a little bit more poker in their life. Hosted by retired cop Bobby Spade, described disturbingly as a cross between Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh, the show has been called the place “where the nuts go”.
Spade, who was injured in the line of duty and spent his time off playing poker, set up the show simply as a bit of fun, but has interviewed the likes of Tom McEvoy and Mike Sexton among others. His simple belief is that “if everyone in the world played poker, we’d have no more wars.” Amen to that brother.
