Away from the table, poker continues to be big business. Once again, the top web companies, affiliates and marketing executives are already planning their annual get together – presumably to shmooze and undoubtedly to steal a few ideas for next year.

The Poker Industry Expo, which is due to take place in Costa Rica in December, might on the surface seem like a fairly dull business powwow, but the happenings of the meeting will determine how 'regular Joes' play poker online in 2007 and how their transactions and winnings can be taken care of more safely.
However, that still sounds boring, the organisers are planning to keep things interesting by hiring out the Fiesta Casino in San Jose and jetting in some pros to take on the execs. Last year, Doyle Brunson and Mike Caro showed up to show the bosses how it’s done and no doubt the big names will be out in force again come December.
At least the tournament should keep the execs minds off the more trifling matters such as massive profit margins and how to make more money from their sites.
