Poker Hall of Fame Final Nominees Announced

Poker Hall of Fame Final Nominees Announced

Wednesday, 9 September 2009

The final nominees for a prestigious place in the Poker Hall of Fame have been announced. The Induction Ceremony will be part of a special Hall of Fame dinner ceremony on Saturday, November 7 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas during the dinner break of the Main Event Final Table, meaning there are not one but two November Nines this year.

One man is of course in both – Phil Ivey is a prominent name among the nominees, but he is competing with Barry Greenstein, Dan Harrington, Tom McEvoy, Men Nguyen, Scotty Nguyen, Daniel Negreanu, Erik Seidel and Mike Sexton.

Of course, one person on the list doesn’t think he should be: “I’m honoured by the nomination but I don’t think I’ve done enough [to be included],” said four-time WSOP bracelet-winner Daniel Negreanu. He went on to cite Mike Sexton as a great choice for the spot, stating that “no one has done more” for the game of poker.

Another good choice would be Dan Harrington, whose legendary series of books (the Harrington on Hold ‘em series) are still used by every single tournament player as a foundation of strategy.
